Abstract. Calorimetry has found value in the study of thermodynamics of reactive systems, mixtures and materials. To appreciate the usefulness of calorimetry it is important to recognise the principles of thermodynamics upon which it is based. An account of the development of thermodynamics in a calorimetric experiment is presented to quantify hypochlorite in commercial household laundry bleach using a titration type procedure to reach the endpoint. Heat, heat capacities and heat of reaction are determined by measuring energy changes from temperature in an adiabatic calorimeter

Abstract. Both surface tension and viscosity data of aqueous solutions of the deoxy adenosine (DOA) and the deoxy ribose (DOR) sugar along with aqueous PVP-oxime silico alanine have been measured with survismeter with a striking agreement with literature data. These functions in general are being measured with stalagmometer and viscometer respectively consuming much effort, chemicals, and solvents but the individual measurements are more time- and materials consuming.

Abstract. On 3-5 February 2006 a National Chemistry Competition – Vratsa 2006 was held. 75 students from different Bulgarian schools participated in the rivalry. Four problems from Inorganic Chemistry and as well as Organic Chemistry were given. This competition is similar to the entrance exam in Chemistry for the prospective students of both Medical UniversitySofia and Medical UniversityVarna. A careful analysis of the problems given is presented. The system of pupils’ evaluation is described.

Abstract. The first paper marking the birth of the neutron activation analysis was published in 1936. The present paper draws attention to the 70th anniversary of this event representing the physical background of the neutron activation analysis, the method of work, the possibility and limits of that analytical method as well as some information about the history of discovering of the activation analysis. Additionally some information about the possible application of the neutron activation method of analysis is given. As appendix of the paper short notes about some of the mentioned in the paper names of famous scientists are presented, these had been working in the field of radioactivity and through this had contributed to the discovery of the neutron activation analysis.

Abstract. Hopefully all the papers in the field of History and Philosophy of Chemistry (HPC), published in 2005, are listed in the present bibliography. This reference list contains 148 articles published in 33 scholarly journals. A list of 45 academic journals, open for such kind of articles, is presented.
